Welcome to our page! The Bethlehem Animal Shelter is the first and ONLY animal shelter in the West Bank and the services we provide are therefore very much needed in this area.
We are a team of local and international volunteers dedicated to providing animals safety and respect.
There is a growing population of stray dogs and cats in the West Bank, and we are working towards keeping the population down by spaying and neutering, which is a humane and ethical option compared to poisoning and shooting. The second is a popular, yet inefficient and cruel way of trying to solve this issue. However, the authorities continue to use these methods, because it is less costly, compared to spaying and neutering and feeding the animals.
Part of our work includes trying to find new homes for our rescues, spaying/neutering, providing vaccines, microchip, feeding and surgeries for hurt and abused animals. In addition to this, we also try to raise awareness about animal welfare and why it is important.
One of the ways we do this is by visiting school and educating the children about animal welfare and the environment. This is in hope that the coming generations will accept and respect life in all forms, and this way of thinking will create a better life for both humans and animals.

Dog of the Month
Leslie is our Dog of the Month.
This sweet pup is 3.5 years old. She has been at the shelter her whole life, after being rescued at barely 1 month old. She is a little timid at the beginning due to her lack of human contact. But she is a lovable dog who only requires a little patience.

Cat of the Month
Frank is our Cat of the Month.
Frank was one of our 'unadoptable' cats at the shelter due to his fear of humans. But he has been in a foster home for the past 4 months and been making much progress. It would be a shame to let all that progress go to waste by putting him back in the shelter.

The Bethlehem shelter still remains under threat of closure by the municipal authorities.
Our team of volunteers is working on a plan to build a new permanent home for all the dogs and cats we care for, and where they will feel safe !
